It's the day after Yuya's been sent to the hospital. Geo's not even supposed to be working today and should be out dueling, but he's sitting at Flamvell, with a drink he hasn't even touched, scrolling through his phone and looking like he's trying to glare hard enough it'll catch on fire.

I agree with you, you know. This... All of this is just nonsense. But it's even worse that it's being simply allowed, you know? But too many people subscribe to the idea that the one who is "stronger" is right. The one who wins is the one who decides how things go.

And because those kids from Ryozanpaku and the Duelist Crusher are "stronger", they get to decide what goes and what doesn't.

It doesn't mean we need to just simply accept it... But I guess it makes it hard for people more invested in this to not go along with it.

*she stretches her arms up*

Though I'm definitely getting bothered by the fact that a lot of kids are starting to try to imitate.

"I mean, I ain't accepting it. What else can I do though? Kiko's hanging her hopes on using this to slingshot her to the pros, and I'm not sure Trena understands anything besides games and friendship. I got the luxury of quitting, 'cause we got this place. Who else in there does?

And, just... I thought Desdemona'd be more reasonable, too. Say 'this is too much' after that kid whupped the other two. And if these kids, all of 'em, not just Ryozanpaku think that they can just scrap ta get up ta the top and the world keeps proving 'em right..."

He grunts in annoyance and pours himself a soda to sip on before setting his head on your shoulder.

*rubbing your head while you're there, before getting her arm around you.*

It's a pretty telling problem, yeah. Dueling... Shouldn't be like this. Not just kids, but adults too shouldn't be putting themselves into trouble like this.

If they wanted to do this, they'd get into boxing. Wrestling. Things like that. Not a card game-- a game that little kids get into. There's been that really young kid who's been taking part too. Can you imagine him getting tied up in the mess that's going on at the top?

That helps. He doesn't at least SOUND as angry anymore.

"Yeah. A game we're telling kids that 'hey it's fine to break your opponent's bones just because they may get a strategic advantage.'"

A sigh, more of exasperation than anger at this point.

"I can't. I really hope they're not... monstrous enough to attack a young kid like that."

I'm worried about that.

But... I'm worried too that if it did happen, it might just be passed off as "he knows what he was doing and getting into."

Which... just isn't an excuse. People shouldn't be expected to have to physically defend themselves like this. We're not in Dark Games. We're not in the 12 Dimensions, either. It's just... all normal stuff.

*shaking her head* But I'm guessing they won't really listen to anyone unless they win, huh?

"Hopefully we don't have to see it. We've still got some kids playing it straight in the top eight and in the tag-team ranks. Gotta just hope they win and people can see that this is a trend that's gotta stop.

Otherwise, yeah. We're gonna keep getting that flimsy bullshit of 'you knew what you were getting into, daring to try and have fun here.'"

... course, what'll happen if they do win, but people keep trying to demand for the more violent stuff?

Like... I don't like it, but I'm pretty sure the only reason those Ryozanpaku kids were allowed to stay was because it boosted up the views like crazy. I don't even know if most of them realize this is stuff that's actually happening beyond any receiving end's control.

"Then they gotta make it really fun ta watch.

Which means, Yuya, who probably isn't going to be able ta actually compete, or Yuzu. Anyone else... I'm a little worried about."

... Yeah... Sakaki got really beat up, didn't he.

"It's why I quit. The pros are the pros and they ain't something I'll ever be able to touch while I'm out of them. But hospitalization? Of a goofy kid? No. It's gotta stop."

*... she leans back, thinking.*

Maybe I should just stop for now, too. I mean. I'm in the low tier right now anyway. It's not like I'm gonna make a difference being there.

But, y'know. Maybe if more people who can walk out do it, it might at least send some sort of message. A message that there're people who won't just lay down and let it happen so easily.

"Yeah?

...think we can stage something like that, actually?"

There's that awful smile as he starts to straighten up, cogs in his head whirring.

*she snickers*

What, thinking about making a big production out of it? Personally, I think silent protesting might be just as effective, but...

... I was actually thinking, but what if we hold a dueling day sometime here. At the restaurant. Just have a day where people can come here and enjoy themselves. Maybe blow off a little steam without threat of concussion.

"Look, if we make a big production about it, maybe more people'll start listening.

... Yeah. Yeah, I think I'd really like that. Might be what some people really need. Hell, I think you and I really need something like that right now."

I gotta admit. It makes me think of Trena's plan for when she left LDS. *she's clearly joking, but you gotta admit...*

... We can work out doing that soon, though. I think after what happened there, morale's gonna be pretty low. It's the job of us adults to try to help that, right?

"We're both loud and obnoxious, that's all.

Yeah, it is. Gotta keep everyone's spirits up."

He blows out a breath.

"Can I also just say how weird it is that we're considered adults? And I've probably BEEN one for a while?"

Well.

Yeah, it is weird to think about it. But... we are. We can't really ignore that, even if this city really kinda encourages doing that.

But... it means we can do something about this. If something's bad, we can do it one better.

"I'm gonna default ta not thinking about it, like most things.

Yeah, that's what we need ta do. Maybe if Sakaki's too wobbly, get some of his friends ta come and do some of his entertainment dueling for him..."

*pssh* Well, we can't really do anything as fancy as the Real Solid Vision stuff that's used for that stuff.

Unless you wanna consider trying to rent out one of the Kaiba Land arenas. But I think that tends to have a waiting list a mile long.

"Yeah, by the time we get there this whole problem's blown over and the junior league's completely different.

I mean, we used ta watch standin' duels all the time. Not much different from how we did it."

I could sure only hope so, but for now.

Yeah, I think we can set up for normal standing duels. Maybe have some tables set up on the side too for anyone who just wants to duel like that.

"What? Just cards? That's ridiculous. You're being ridiculous now, Suguru."

He lightly pokes at you.

"Offer them food and we will have all of the teenagers we could have ever wished for."

*pokes back*

Long as you're up to a day of cooking.

"I can't keep up with these kids and their newfangled entertainment dueling for smiles, but food will never stop being a hit."
